Suffer the Children: Bible & Feeding Program Overview
Both of our programs are located in the rural villages of Pachimulin and San Jose Poaquil outside of Guatemala City, Guatemala. Under the founding leadership of North American missionaries Bob and Tessa Yeater, every child in our program is guaranteed at least 3 wholesome and home cooked meals per week prepared by a Guatemalan national. As a sponsor you are also providing 8 local families with a quality employment. Each week the children get to actively participate in our bible program. From the story of creation to the foundation of salvation, our programs maintain a systematic model that brings them to knowledge of their need of a savior while also instilling basic biblical values that will help them to be committed mothers and fathers in the future. In addition to bible and food, many children receive access to schooling and basic necessities met through our extensive team ministries to their respective villages. |
Will I be allowed to choose my sponsor child & how?
Yes. Suffer the Children maintains a list and photo/info database of all the children available for sponsorship in our database. Upon contacting our sponsorship coordinator at sponsor@stcguatemala.com, you will be given a choice of gender and sometimes age bracket if you like. The coordinator when then email you a PDF copy of the child's photo along with a brief bio. *Info packets available via e-mail only at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience. Where does my sponsorship money go, to the program only? Yes. All of your monthly goes to the administration of the feeding and bible programs we operate. We feed the children, provide biblical teachings, life classes when available and employee native Guatemalans to carry out much of this needed work. |
Will I be able to contact my sponsor child?
Yes. Feel free to contact your sponsor child at any time. Due to distance and the remoteness of our ministry sites, an e-mail is the best and most efficient way to do this. Please allow us time to relay this information to the child as your correspondence will need translated and then delivered to a remote village. We thank you for your patience and understanding in this area. What if my sponsor child leaves the program? Due to the nature of our program and the area in which we serve, there are times when there is a high turnover rate and sometimes, albeit rare, a child must be dismissed from the program. When we lose a child and a child sponsor, the entire program suffers. Upon leaving the program, the sponsor will be notified via e-mail and assigned another child. If the donor wishes, they can even choose the child or choose to terminate their sponsorship. |
